Rovers: Limping towards non-league obscurity


Sky 1’s new comedy Rovers arrived last month to coincide with the hubbub surrounding Euro 2016. The premise is based in and around the clubhouse of local non-league side Redbridge Rovers.

Written by ‘career weirdos’ David Earl and Joe Wilkinson, the show is directed by The Royle Family’s Craig Cash, who also takes the lead as superfan Pete Mott (Mete Pott, swap the letters around. It’s good fun!).

An epic fantasy book series bought to life spectacularly, with dragons, mystery, magic and a stellar, mostly British cast. No, it’s not Harry Potter or LOTR, it’s HBO’s Game of Thrones.
